Destination Campus Fun!

There's a lot more to an LSC language course than lessons & excursions. On each course destination we have a wide and varied programme of activities to keep students entertained for the duration of their stay.

Check the noticeboards, visit the student fete, sign up and enjoy!

LSC Student Fete

Shortly after students arrive on campus the Activity Monitors will hold a student welcome event with stalls and information regarding the different evening activities being held on campus. It is at this event that students enroll for the various speciality activities on campus during their stay.

Theatre Course

The course will provide students with an introduction to the basics of English theatre. It aims to build up confidence and improve spoken English while learning to communicate in English with others.

In groups averaging 15-20, with a minimum of two sessions a week, students will have the opportunity to explore the following options; creating a character, improvisation, mime, adaptations, communication and British & American playwrights.

Students will get the opportunity to showcase what they have learned in the evening talent show, along with the other students.

The Theatre Course is offered in Birmingham, Bristol, Colchester, Leeds & Portsmouth

Dance Course

The LSC Dance course has an emphasis on modern jazz, street dance and the latest dance techniques for students whatever their level of ability.

In groups averaging 15-20, with a minimum of two sessions a week, students will put together routines and learn new contemporary moves under the guidance of a regularly practising dance instructor. Students will get the opportunity to showcase what they have learned in the evening talent show, along with the other dance students.

All classes will take place in a suitably equipped studio space. Students will be expected to arrive at the classes with appropriate movement clothing and footwear.

The Dance Course is offered in Bristol, Colchester, Leeds, Portsmouth & New York Uptown.

Team LSC

In the first few evenings, LSC activity staff will run a variety of team and competitive games. Students will be divided according to age, nationality and interests.

Activities will vary from campus to campus but will range from sports such as dodge ball to crazy games including Siamese football, egg roulette and Capture the Flag.

The aim? To get students mixing as much as possible, break down barriers and get them making friends from the start.

There are regular Team LSC evenings throughout the course.

Conversation Club

This is where students have the chance to participate in informal conversations with our English-speaking activity staff. In small groups, students will be able to talk about anything they wish, from their future ambitions to the complexities of their love life!

Spaces are limited and demand is high! Students will sign up when they arrive in the centre.

Conversation Club is offered in Birmingham, Bristol, Colchester, Leeds and Portsmouth.

Project Nights

Students will choose from a variety of project themes with the LSC staff. Projects include theatre, film-making, fashion design, event-planning and photography. Students will need to sign up for a project at the LSC Student Fete. The Project Nights will coincide with the other scheduled evening activities (discos, karaoke, quizzes, sports tournaments).

  • Theatre- students will get the opportunity to play a variety of theatre games and put into practice their English through the use of short acting scenarios.
  • Film- Making- Students will work together to plan, film and edit a short film. There are opportunities for everyone from actors, directors to script writers and set design.
  • Fashion-design- Looking at international and local fashions, students will get the chance to put together a magazine page with photos modelling the latest trends and/or a fashion show.
  • Event-planning- Planning an evening activity can take a lot of hard work. In this project night students will work with the activity staff to plan an evening activity to showcase students' skills and talents. They will look at venue booking, publicity and promotion in order to successfully arrange an activity for other students to enjoy.
  • Photography- Through the use of tasks set by the Activity Monitor, students will learn new ways of using their digital camera to take more than just regular touristy shots.

Each project night takes place on different evenings during the course. Students will enrol at the LSC Student Fete. It is not compulsory for students to participate in any project night as there will be other scheduled activities available for them.

LS-TEA

Do your older students complain that there's nothing for them to do? Twice a week there will be a space available (with the LSC Staff!) for older students to 'hang out'. LS-tea is place for older students to relax and chat with each other and the English staff. In some centres there will a computer available for internet access.

Activity staff will arrange a variety of activities, from campus magazines, to helping the activity monitors organise an evening activity for all the students later on the stay.

And of course, there'll be tea and biscuits on tap! Strictly for 16 and 17 year olds!

LSC Disco Nights

Every LSC Disco Night is themed! Enjoy a British Rave, Black & White Disco or even Pyjama Party themes. Your students don't like to dance? LSC staff will be on hand to play a variety of themed games.

Performance Nights

LSC is always looking for new talent, our karaoke and performance evenings aim to cultivate this, good or bad! Varieties of evenings include 'LSC's Got Talent', and 'The World Vision Talent Contest' (based on the Eurovision Song Contest).

Quiz Nights

Test your knowledge of all things British, musical and strange in our variety of LSC Quizzes.

Sports tournament evenings

At least once every two weeks a sports tournament will be held in the evening. LSC staff will organise students into teams and where it is possible mix nationalities.

Fast Friends

This is our own take on the classic 'speed dating' concept. Students are encouraged to ask as many questions as possible to a partner in two minutes before having to move on.

LSC Vegas Night

Come to LSC Vegas and enjoy a classic casino evening from Russian roulette to an English classic 'Higher or Lower', we're sure all students will enjoy the chance to win some great prizes! Try and beat the banker with our own version of 'Deal or No Deal'.
