Our Online Introduction to TEFL Course is designed to give you as much information as possible in a reader-friendly format.
Originally designed to improve the skills of the less experienced teachers who worked on our summer courses, the course has been developed to provide an overview of the various issues in TEFL, and is an excellent first step for anyone considering TEFL as an employment option. On successful completion you will receive a certificate detailing the length and content of the course.
Once you have enrolled, the course material can be downloaded as a pdf file and printed if required (23 pages in total). You can work through the material at your own pace, and then email me your completed coursework as a MS word document. You will then receive feedback on your work via email, and your certificate by post.
This is the first year we have made the course accessible to people who are not planning to teach on one of our summer courses. Our reason for doing this is that although this kind of training course is only a peripheral aspect of our business, the company will ultimately benefit from there being more people out there who are interested in teaching EFL. Because of this we have made it much cheaper than any similar courses. In order to keep costs low we do not offer on-line credit card booking; instead please email me at mark.hellyer@lsc.ac to tell me you'd like to do the course and send a cheque made payable to Language Study Centres Ltd for £45.00 to:
Mark Hellyer
28 Studley Road
Torquay, Devon
TQ1 3JN
When I receive your cheque I will email you a receipt and your password so you can access the course.
But ... please don't waste your money! Make sure you know what you're getting by reading the FAQs page and the course content before enrolling.
Just to put your mind at rest that I know what I'm talking about here's a brief outline of my practical experience and qualifications:
I spent 4 years teaching EFL in the UK and abroad and 2 years as a lecturer at the University of Wolverhampton. For 5 years I managed a year-round BC-accredited school and acted as a local supervisor on the International House distance learning RSA Dip. TEFLA course, and I have 7 years' experience of recruiting and training teachers for junior summer courses. I have a BA (Hons) in French & Spanish, RSA Dip. TEFLA and a Post Graduate Diploma in Linguistics (TESOL).
