Director of Studies
Responsible to:The Academic Director, The Centre Manager.
Responsible for: Implementing the academic programme, managing the teaching team, teaching whenever necessary, handling testing and administration for Trinity College London exams.
Hours: 8.45am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.
Main Duties:
- To attend a training day prior to the start of the course.
- To organise placement tests for students on arrival, the marking
of tests and the efficient placing of students into classes based
on test results.
- To allocate teachers to classes, ensuring that teachers are paired
in such a way that every class has a different teacher for the last
period of the morning.
- To monitor teachers' punctuality and appearance, and to take appropriate
action when necessary.
- To monitor teachers' performance, through classroom observation
and informal chatting.
- To keep accurate records of the hours worked by teachers, and to
pass this information to the Academic Director on a weekly basis so
that payment to teachers can be made.
- When necessary, liaison with the Academic Director over Trinity
College London exam entries: testing and entering students at the
appropriate level, collecting entry fees when necessary, giving students
preparation classes prior to the exam.
- To continually monitor student numbers so that teachers are deployed
in a cost effective way, and to take decisions on staffing after the
teachers’ initial contracts have expired.
- To ensure that teachers use the excursion preparation material available
before students go on excursions.
- To ensure that all students are presented with a certificate of
achievement (correctly completed) before they leave.
- To ensure that students adhere to the code of conduct laid down
by the company.
- To liaise with the Centre Manager and Group Leaders on all issues
of student welfare/behaviour.
Rates of Pay
Pay is dependent on qualifications,
experience and the number of students at the centre, and will be in the
range £80.00 - £92.00 per day (£400 - £460 p.w.)
