Residential Teacher
Responsible to:The Director of Studies, The Activity Co-ordinator.
Responsible for: Teaching students in the mornings, supervising and participating in activities in the afternoons, evenings and at weekends.
Main Duties:
- To teach from 9.00 to 12.20 (12.50 where the teacher has chosen to teach Trinity College Exam preparation classes).
- To supervise five evening activities, plus five of the seven Monday to Saturday daytime activities (total: ten activities).
- To attend a meeting prior to the start of the course and thereafter to attend regular staff meetings.
- To ensure that students adhere to the code of conduct laid down by the company.
- To report any incidents of misbehaviour to the Centre Manager.
- To ensure students receive all necessary information prior to departure on excursions.
- Collecting students from the arranged meeting point, checking for any absentees, making sure students know where to meet for the return journey.
- Counting students into attractions and completing vouchers correctly.
- Checking all students are present before starting the return journey.
- To actively monitor students during activities, and to participate whenever required.
- To liaise with group leaders on all issues of student welfare/behaviour.
N.B. On occasions when student groups have a midweek arrival they sometimes ask to replace one afternoon activity with a 3-hour teaching session to make up for the morning they have missed. Teachers are expected to be available for any such sessions, and will be paid £15 - £20 extra per session.
Rates of Pay
Pay is dependent on qualifications
and experience and is payable over five days. If a teacher is required
to work on a full day Saturday excursion (s)he will have two free afternoons
during the week in lieu. Pay will be in the range £240 - £300 per week.
In addition to this payment Residential Teachers will be provided with
full board accommodation seven days a week for the period they are employed
by LSC.
